I decided to run the Reebok Bristol Half Marathon this year to help raise much-needed funds for two very worthy causes.
The 2007 event took place on Sunday 9th September, and saw runners take in all the sights of Bristol in one of the country’s largest and most popular races.
I joined thousands of other Bristolians on the run, and every penny raised from sponsorship will be split between the charity SANDS and the Jamie Cooper fund.
The SANDS (Stillbirth And Neonatal Death) charity works to support and to press for extra care for bereaved parents and families who have lost babies during
pregnancy or in the very early stages of life.
Funds for Jamie Cooper, a Gashead soldier injured during operations in Iraq, will help pay for ongoing care and equipment the Private will need over future months and years.
The race is over now, but I'm looking for sponsorship or donations from as many football fans as possible, and
hopefully I can make some difference to the lives of those
in need of a little help.
Thank you for your support.

| SUNDAY 9TH
SEPTEMBER 2007
I ran the race in one hour 55 minutes, which I was very pleased
about. I've been told if you do it in less than two hours then
you've done very well.
There was a lot of support all around the race from the general
public, and I think that helped me and the rest of the runners keep
going and get round.
I was running alongside some very good people, and we all helped and
encouraged each other to get round.
Thanks to everyone who sponsored me before the race, please try to
get your pledged to me within two weeks as we're looking to do a
presentation on the pitch at a future home game and we need the
final figures counted up.
If you haven't sponsored me yet, then you still can, and if you do
it online it's safe, secure and instant.
SATURDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER 2007
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the bucket collection
at the Nottingham Forest game. It raised £1,502 which is a
magnificent effort.
It's far more than I expected to raise, and credit once again
to Bristol Rovers supporters for their generosity.
MONDAY 27TH AUGUST 2007
The money raised from the charity quiz night at the Memorial
Stadium came to £2,540 so a thank you to everyone who came along to
support the event and everyone who gave up their time on the night.
It was an enjoyable evening, and it was great to see the Centenary
Suite full as it was.

EVENT INFORMATION
The race took place in Bristol on Sunday 9th September
2007. The official
website can be found here.
SANDS (STILLBIRTH AND NEONATAL DEATH)
Friends of mine, Mike and Maureen Lewis, helped me during my testimonial year at Ashton Gate. Mike's son and his wife had the misfortune to have a stillborn baby. They now help raise funds for SANDS, a charity that helps people through the trauma of the experience. It's a really worthwhile cause, and one that's very close to my heart. The official website can be found here.
JAMIE COOPER
I think everyone knows about Jamie Cooper. A lot of people have helped him so far, and I spoke to his dad
earlier in the year because I’d only heard bits and pieces about what the lad had been through.
He was badly injured while on duty as a soldier in Iraq, and
hopefully some of the money raised can help him with his future, because he’s
been through a lot.
